: Cream together brown sugar and 1 cup (250 mL) butter. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add baking soda, flour and oatmeal and nuts, if using, and combine well. Pat 2/3 of oatmeal mixture into a parchment paper-lined 9x13" (3.5 L) baking pan.

: Melt chocolate chips with Eagle Brand and butter. Pour over base. Drop reserved oatmeal mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls onto chocolate mixture.

: Bake in preheated 350ºF (180ºC) oven 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes and cut into bars while still warm.
